Are you a visionary marketing leader ready to define and elevate the brand of a prestigious university? Brandeis University is seeking a Vice President of University Marketing & Creative Strategy to spearhead our efforts in developing and delivering high-impact marketing programs that drive recruitment, build visibility, and inspire philanthropy.
As the VP of University Marketing & Creative Strategy, you will bring in-depth knowledge of the higher education landscape and lead an integrated, interdisciplinary team of marketing strategists, creative designers, multimedia experts, and production managers. This role demands a high level of business acumen, strategic foresight, and collaborative leadership to guide the university's positioning in an increasingly competitive market. You will be responsible for ensuring our marketing programs and brand strategy support key university goals, while maintaining fiscal responsibility and resource optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with campus partners to develop and advance integrated marketing strategies that showcase Brandeis Universityâ™s academic rigor, research excellence, and student experience.
Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and manage a dynamic team of marketing and creative professionals, driving innovation and high-quality deliverables.
Brand & Creative Direction: Set the universityâ™s branding and marketing strategy, overseeing the creation of campaigns, print and digital content, and multimedia projects that align with our mission.
University Partnerships: Partner with Enrollment Management, Advancement, and other key departments to achieve goals related to student recruitment, donor engagement, and university visibility.
Financial Stewardship: Manage centralized marketing budgets, ensuring university funds are used effectively and deliver strong return on investment.
Data-Driven Impact: Leverage data and best practices to inform decisions, track the effectiveness of marketing efforts, and continuously refine strategies.
Social Media & Crisis Communication: Oversee the universityâ™s social media presence, ensuring engagement is monitored, and proactively managing potential issues.
Brand Governance: Champion brand consistency across the university, providing tools and templates for departments to maintain cohesive messaging.
Qualifications:
Masterâ™s degree (or equivalent experience) in marketing, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
10-12 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing communications, ideally with higher education exposure.
Proven success leading interdisciplinary marketing and creative teams, driving innovative solutions across digital, print, social media, and events.
Demonstrated ability to lead conceptual planning and execution of strategic marketing campaigns.
Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate a compelling vision and influence senior leaders and stakeholders.
Strong track record in managing external agencies and independent talent, with a focus on building and maintaining strategic partnerships.
