The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a Marketing Specialist. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences is the center of Earth sciences at Oregon State University. Our scientists and students are on the frontlines of discovery, from the depths of the ocean to remote mountain peaks, and from the state-of-the-art labs that line our halls to the communities that we serve with the outcomes of our research. The Marketing Specialist will be part of a dynamic and talented team whose mission is to share the college's cutting-edge science with outside audiences and communities, including alumni, donors, prospective students, K-12 students, and communities affected by and interested in our science.
The Marketing Specialist will develop and implement a variety of integrated marketing strategies and projects to help publicize CEOAS's science and academic programs. The position is responsible for marketing the college's research and academic programs via products including (but not limited to) web content, social media posts and campaigns, other digital marketing, and print pieces. Audiences for these marketing initiatives include prospective undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, donors and others. With the support of the director, the specialist collaborates with the college's undergraduate and graduate student services offices as well as alumni, marketing, and student recruitment organizations across the university.
The position reports to the CEOAS Director of Communications and Marketing, and is a member of the college Communications and Marketing Team. As a member of that team, the marketing specialist will:
Work with the team to conceptualize and implement digital marketing campaigns using established branding.
Lead the development of social media, web and e-news content, and participate in related strategy and planning to ensure digital platforms align with college goals.
Undertake basic market research to inform digital marketing strategies
With the support of the director, collaborate with CEOAS student services offices, the university's admissions team, and personnel from the OSU Alumni Association, OSU Foundation, and University Relations and Marketing to plan, implement and assess marketing approaches, including web and social strategies and technologies.
Prepare content for print pieces aimed at core audiences.
Assist with internal communications and marketing of events.
Typically requires Bachelor's degree in field related to the discipline of the college, unit or department with professional communications and marketing experience.
Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or digital/multimedia communications and one year of experience with digital communications, or a bachelor's degree in an unrelated discipline and at least three years of experience with digital communications.
Experience with applying market research to campaign strategies.
Experience with creation of online and social media marketing content.
Experience with basic market research.
Strong writing skills, especially copy for social media, web sites, print publications, media ads and electronic newsletters.
Experience with modifying voice to be appropriate for different platforms and audiences.
Experience with managing priorities, deadlines and time-critical situations for multiple projects.
Experience with working effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, and a demonstrated record of working cooperatively as part of a team.
Ability to translate a dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion into digital marketing content and campaigns.
Type:
Regular business hours. Work will be in person on the Corvallis campus; some telework can be negotiated.
