Professor of Practice, Senior Lecturer, or Lecturer in Marketing and Management Communications, Cornell SC Johnson College of Business
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business is seeking applicants for a Professor of Practice/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer position in the Marketing and Management Area, with a renewable 3-year or 5-year term, depending on rank. Candidates would be appointed at the rank that is appropriate given their experience and performance. The position is set to commence on July 1, 2025, and will be based in either Ithaca, NY, or New York City.
The responsibilities of the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Marketing and require:
- Engaging in curriculum development.
- Delivering high-quality, innovative course content.
- Advising and mentoring students.
- Engaging in service activities within the college and broader academic community.
- Contributing to the college's outreach efforts.
Although candidates may be traditional academics or marketing experts from the corporate world, the most attractive candidate is likely to possess the following job qualifications:
- Discipline-related master's degree or Ph.D. in Marketing or related field and/or,
- Experience teaching in a four-year accredited college or university, preferably teaching multi-section courses and/or the equivalent experience in business.
- Experience and skill in teaching marketing principles, product strategy, pricing, marketing research, or consumer behavior.
- Demonstrated experience and interest in collaborating with colleagues.
It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business. This positions home will be with one of our three schools and will be determined at time of hire.
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan).
The Johnson School offers MBA, Accelerated MBA, Executive MBA, and Ph.D. programs. Courses and programs are taught at Cornell's main Ithaca campus, the Cornell Tech campus in New York City, and other locations across the globe.
The Nolan School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University is the top-ranked hospitality management program worldwide, with undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs. The Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan) has approximately 800 undergraduates and 60 graduate students. Founded in 1922, Nolan is an AACSB accredited business school, with a resident faculty of 65 and over 10,000 alumni worldwide. Important resources available to faculty include extraordinary access to industry leaders, excellent research funding, the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR), and the cultural and intellectual resources of the Cornell University community.
Dyson houses a top-ranked undergraduate business program as well as graduate programs that award Ph.D., M.S. and M.P.S. degrees. Areas of faculty research include management; environmental, energy and resource economics; food and agricultural economics; and international and development economics. Faculty members in the Dyson School frequently collaborate with colleagues in Computer and Information Sciences, Economics, Engineering, Natural Resources, and other units on campus.

In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $105,000 - $230,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items. Cornell University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
