Overview
The Content team within University Communications and Marketing creates news and storytelling content across the full range of available media for distribution across all available channels. The team?s objective is to tell the Tufts story in a compelling manner, whether that story lies within the work of our faculty, the ideas of our students, the impact of our alumni, or the opportunities represented by our enrollment programs.
What You'll Do

The Multimedia Producer is responsible for capturing, developing, editing and overseeing a range of multimedia projects for university communications and marketing, including photography, audio and video for the purpose of storytelling. Marketing or news coverage to be distributed on the university digital channels. The Multimedia Producer may be required to work during the evening and on weekends.
Work closely with the Chief of Photography on regular photo and other kinds of multimedia assignments covering campus life, student life, research, community and university-wide events, and more to be distributed on the university's digital channels.
Collaborate with the Chief of Photography, Director of Digital Experiences (and Editorial Director, Deputy Editorial Director, and content-team colleagues) to develop original multimedia content for the purpose of marketing, storytelling, or news coverage to be distributed on the university's digital channels.
Pre-production: Develop (frequently in collaboration with colleagues) the concept behind the project and collaborate on shoot planning/scripting, storyboarding, and setting deadlines.
Production: capture multimedia (e.g., photo, video, audio), create related graphics and record voice-overs.
Post-production: Edit deliverable, finalize graphics, and work with team colleagues to integrate deliverables into the university's digital channels.
Work within production schedules for multiple, concurrent projects to meet tight deadlines and team/departmental expectations.
Generate new ideas for creative multimedia projects and work with colleagues to determine how projects fit with the overall strategy and calendar of content team.
Assist in the development and communication of multimedia guidelines and best practices for the university community.
Edit existing photographic, video, audio and other multimedia content. Additional editing duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements: Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia/Visual Communications, Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism
3+ years of demonstrated experience in the planning, capture, and editing of high-quality multimedia deliverables (e.g., photography, audio, video) to reach both broad and targeted audiences.
Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, premiere/audition; candidates must be willing to learn new software and digital tools as needed.
Candidates should have demonstrated ability to capture and produce high-quality multimedia deliverables for use in digital channels; be a creative storyteller with strong photo/audio/video editing and technical skills; possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills, excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills; and be able to represent the university in a professional and courteous manner, while working with individuals of varied backgrounds and professional levels.
Should be able to work independently and also collaborate as part of a team.
Must be able to juggle multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, uphold journalistic standards, and work well
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supervising interns or junior staff
Familiarity with higher education environments also a plus.
The ideal candidate is proactive and has a strong desire to work in a collaborative environment.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to travel between Tufts University's campuses, sometime within the same day.
Must be able to transport and carry various multimedia equipment to site locations.
Pay Range
Minimum $72,500.00, Midpoint $90,700.00, Maximum $108,900.00
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
