The Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) School of Architecture (SoA) seeks a thorough, detail-oriented individual to assist with the SoA's marketing and outreach efforts on a full time basis! This position will report to the Head of School and work closely with staff working across Communications, Student Recruitment/Admissions and Alumni Relations to strengthen and promote the reputation of the school nationally and internationally.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Marketing & Communications
- Attention to detail in producing public-facing written and visual communications, such as website content, mailings, social media, etc.
- Research, write, and edit engaging stories and coverage of the school.
- Manage email mailing lists, including subscriber management and contact information updates (E.g., MailChimp lists and internal distribution/d-lists). Make annual updates for admitted students, new enrolled students, and graduated new alumni. Experience with MailChimp and/or other mailing list management tools preferred.
- Assist with creation and editing of school newsletters.
- Curate displays of student work in school spaces and display cabinets.
- Make basic website content updates in provided templates. Experience with Drupal, and/or other CMS is a plus. (E.g., student profile updates, faculty updates, course website updates, etc.).
- Assist with writing and editing copy for new website launch scheduled for Summer 2023
- Update marketing collateral and other documents, such as business cards, and prepare files for print. Create and edit flyers, handouts, posters, and other visuals and graphics as needed.
- Update merchandise such as t-shirts, tote bags, notebooks, and other items and coordinate order and delivery.
- Compile information for annual NAAB reporting.
- Oversee the collection of syllabi and other important data each semester.
- Help manage and implement content strategy for social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
Alumni Relations
- Spearhead the e-SPAN alumni newsletter published 6 times a year (3 times per semester). Conduct interviews, collect images and audio clips, edit and revise articles covering faculty, staff, students, alumni, and coursework for dissemination to alumni and school audiences.
- Support update of e-SPAN content on website and in electronic mailing.
- Assist in other alumni outreach activities.
Admissions Processing (semi-annually)
- Assist in recruitment outreach efforts.
- Use mail merge to create admissions documents, name tags, etc. from provided data and templates. Update spreadsheets with deposit and ID information.
- Prepare (fold, assemble, and seal) undergraduate and graduate admission mailings of letters, information packets, and prepare packages for college fairs.
Events Planning & Support
- Support the annual SoA awards program by updating award applications in SlideRoom, distributing applications to award reviewers, updating website pages, etc.
- Support the annual planning, information collection, and logistics of the SoA Commencement ceremony.
- Support the planning and support of additional school events as necessary.
- Some evening and weekend work required.

Qualifications
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) preferred.
- Strong writing and editing skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge.
