Academic Marketing Coordinator

Under the direct supervision of the Marketing Director, the Academic Marketing Coordinator is a crucial part of the marketing strategy and efforts undertaken by Cornell University Press (CUP) to ensure it has a recognizable and effective presence at scholarly and trade exhibits, is conducting effective and consistent email marketing campaigns, and advertises its books as appropriate. This position helps CUP market its books to the widest possible academic audience.
The responsibilities of the Academic Marketing Coordinator (AMC) include but are not limited to: conceptualizing and organizing our book exhibits; conducting email marketing campaigns; working with authors and colleagues on all academic marketing initiatives; and helping with the overall marketing strategy for approximately 175 new books each year and selected back list books.
This position may be performed at a remote location within the Continental United States, Alaska or Hawaii. The University must approve of the desired remote work location and reserves the right to modify, suspend, revoke or terminate the remote work arrangement at any time.

Required Qualifications:
- Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

- Formal training beyond a high school diploma of one to two years, two years of college coursework, or Associate's degree or equivalent combination.
- Schooling, practical experience, or equivalent of marketing.
- Proficient with standard office software and applications.
- Familiarity with database software (preferably FileMaker Pro).
- High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and meet the demands of many individuals.
- Creative problem-solving.
- Innovative approach to marketing.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years relevant experience
Experience book publishing or book marketing
Familiarity with email marketing, exhibits and trade shows
Working Conditions
Essential Physical Requirements: Typically lifts 20 to 50 lbs
