The Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Fan Experience is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing comprehensive strategic marketing plans within the PC Athletics Department. This position focuses on enhancing marketing, student-athlete experience, customer experience, and sales initiatives, including ticketing and sponsorship. With administrative oversight of full-time ticket office staff, one full-time Marketing Assistant, and student interns, the role involves managing gameday marketing efforts, including scripting & promotional efforts and outbound ticket sales strategies, particularly emphasizing group sales. The Assistant Athletic Director will also lead the creative process for marketing, sponsorship fulfillment, and sales materials. As an active member on the leadership team this position would aim to bring a collaborative spirit, creativity, and a competitive mindset.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing:
- Develops and oversees the implementation of successful marketing plans for intercollegiate athletic teams and events utilizing a multi-faceted approach, including: grassroots marketing, strategic marketing, digital marketing, social media marketing and advertising, email marketing, strategic communications, community engagement and fan engagement.
- Prepares and executes detailed game scripts, including music direction, video content, public address announcements, and spirit squads, ensuring a high-quality fan experience for ticketed sports.
- Manages Marketing assistant and student intern staff. Heads up hiring students or part-time staff to provide marketing support for athletic events.
- Actively runs main social media accounts for the athletic department particularly focusing on Facebook and Instagram.
- Responsible for creation/implementation of new ideas/opportunities that drive revenue for PC Athletics.
- Responsible for working and attending events including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Responsible for cultivating and building a good working relationship with departments at the college.
- Serve as the Big South Conference marketing representative for Athletics.
- Collaborate with Athletics Department staff.
- Must follow all institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Sponsorship Fulfillment:
- Responsible for activation and fulfillment of corporate sponsorships per sales agreements.
- Responsible for working with the Athletic Department staff to create physical/digital assets and place partners signage/elements.
- Responsible for collaborating with Corporate Sales entities to implement new client initiatives.
- In charge of writing radio ads, graphic design of video board elements, graphic design of physical signage.
Ticket Sales:
- Direct oversight of a full time ticket manager.
- Coordinate and assist the ticket office for all ticketing operations including but not limited to: outbound sales, customer service, group packages, secondary development inquiries, fulfillment, event staffing and development of ticket campaigns and special offerings.
- Develop Season Ticket sales plan for FB, MBB, WBB.
- Develop strategies for season ticket renewals and new season tickets in off season.
- Develop a group ticket sales plan in coordination with marketing efforts.
- Provide accurate and detailed reporting of all ticket sales results on a timely basis.
- Build and maintain relationships with season and group ticket accounts and provide superior service.
- Liaise with online ticket companies to ensure client service and optimal operation for fans.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3 to 5 years of marketing experience in an athletic department of related fields.
- Proficient in graphic design.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Advertising or Marketing.
- Master’s degree in Sports administration or Management.
- Ticket sales, digital advertising experience, email marketing experience.
